THIS WEEK’S RANDOM QUESTION: So, apparently Amazon is now going to pay its Kindle Unlimited & Select authors by pages read. You can read more about this {here}. What do you think of this? Share your thoughts!
So I freely admit, I have Kindle Unlimited (KU) and I rarely use it because I have so much on my TBR list, and plan to cancel it. With that being said, I can see both sides of the coin on this. As a reader, we pay a lot for books, and yes authors should be paid for their work. However, there have been times I have read a book and did not finish for various reasons and I have not spent anywhere from .99 to 7.99 on a book I will not read so I feel like I threw my money away. (Because of this, I have become more picky on the books I purchase.) As an author, this does suck because so many times people will start a book and get a certain way through and stop reading and may end up returning said book because of the 10 book limit with KU. For the author's sake, I think they should revert back to their previous payment method. It should be based on the download, not what is read. (I can tell you from my experience, I have 10 books on my KU list and have not read any of them).
What are your thoughts on Amazon's new policy for Kindle Unlimited? Love it? Hate it?
