Synopsis:
One week.
Manhattan apartment.
Super-hot ex-boyfriend.
…What’s the worst that could happen?
It’s been nine months since Kaitlyn Parker has seen or heard from Martin Sandeke—nine months and five stages of matter. She’s lived through the worst of first-love heartbreak, and is most certainly stronger (and less likely to hide in science cabinets) than ever before.
But now Martin is back. And he wants to be friends. But he’s sending mixed signals to the Bunsen burner in Kaitlyn’s pants.
Will Martin re-capture Kaitlyn’s heart? Can Kaitlyn and Martin ever be just friends? Or, despite an abundance of chemistry, are some bonds just too unstable to endure?
Elements of Chemistry: CAPTURE is the third part in a three part series; it is 70k words. Part 1 (ATTRACTION) will be released April 9, 2015. Part 2 (HEAT) will be released April 30, 2015. Part 3 (CAPTURE) will be released May 16, 2015.
My Thoughts:
“I think one couldn’t have done it without the other. I think Frodo needed Sam as much as Sam needed Frodo, maybe even more.”
Hands down – this was my favorite book of the series. Don’t get me wrong, I loved the whole series but this book gave me the answers I was looking for, but still had me on edge of my seat while I waited for those answers.
I know this may sound a bit harsh, but there were some positives to Martin and Kaitlyn’s breakup. (Wait, wait – before you go off on me hear me out.) After their breakup Kaitlyn does go through a period of grief, but she comes out on the other side a different woman and learns who she is on her own, which we read about in Capture.
When I finished Heat, I was not sure what to think of Martin, but by the end of Capture I definitely knew he was Kaitlyn’s knight is shining armor. It just took a while to figure out how and why (There were many times I went “Aww…..” for the things he did or said). Just like Kaitlyn, we see growth in Martin and I firmly believed these two characters needed to be apart before they could be together.
A side note on Kaitlyn – she is my new favorite book heroine. I would like to think if we met in real life, we could be friends, because we both have that quirky sense of humor. I loved how she is not attracted to the pretty boys; as she says, “Intelligence and charisma is her weakness.” Plus she uses barnacles as an exclamation; I am now determined to make barnacles happen.
If you are looking for a book with two dynamic characters that develop throughout the series – than this book is for you.
